Bilingual with Manners

Books Kids Will Love RATING: BBB
Book: Dora's Book of manners
Author: Christina Ricci
Illustrator: Susan Hall
Recommended for ages 2-5
.
My daughter is a huge fan of Dora. She also is very interested in learning a second language. For those two reasons, this book has become a part of our home library.
This is a great book for beginning readers. The bonus is that it helps reinforce the need for good manners and teaches children a few helpful words in Spanish - like Por Favor and Gracias.
For toddlers and preschoolers, the book's story helps to reinforce the lessons of friendship and forgiveness.

Persistance Wins Out When it Comes To Max & Ruby

Books Kids Will Love RATING: BBBB
BOOK: Dragon Shirt
Author & Illustrator: Rosemary Wells
Recommended for ages 2-6

My daughter is obsessed with Max & Ruby. (We have planned our day around the Max & Ruby TV show. Sad, but true!) This book, one of a series featuring the Max & Ruby bunny characters, is one of my favorites by Rosemary Wells.
Max is in need of a new pair of pants. Ruby takes him shopping, but she can't help but stop by the dress department and try on a few frilly frocks. Max decided he doesn't want new pants. Instead, he wants a green t-shirt with a fire-breathing dragon on it. Max's only purpose now is to leave the store with that shirt. Anyone who has shopped with a toddler, has seen that determination up close. If you know Max & Ruby, you'll know who will come out on top in this shopping excursion!
This is an adorable book that I have read with my daughter several times. This is a great book for beginning readers. I would recommend this book for any toddler's or preschooler's home library.
